This walking/driving tour provide insight into the colorful history of Decatur, Alabama. Flourishing with rich history and enchanting architecture, Albany Historic District is one of the Decatur’s two areas listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Settled in 1887 by northern carbetbaggers, Albany reflects early 20th century trends such as Victorian, Colonial Revival, California Cottage, and Dutch Colonial styles of architecture.
The self-guided tour highlights 26 homes and buildings of significance in Albany Historic district. It provides easy-to-follow directions, maps, photos, interesting details on the architecture of the buildings as well as anecdotal stories about Albany’s early residents.
